Skynet is on us!
You hear about AI every day, and with good reason! AI will no doubt change the landscape of the global workforce. Will it erase the salesperson? No.
Will it weed out the week salespeople? ABSOLUTELY.
When you think about AI, if you're in automotive sales (or any industry) you should look at it as a powerful tool. From helping you craft lead responses, to ACTUALLY responding and... oh yeah, following up with that guest you forgot about... don't lie to yourself.. it happens, even to you.
Embrace it. It isn't going anywhere.
Now... how do you set yourself apart from others or from Skynet?
Be PERSONABLE! Your guest wants you to make them feel special. For decades we've said "People buy cars from people they like" well, HELP them like you! Part of that is being personable. Thank them for giving you the opportunity to serve them. Thank them for having done business with you in the past.
Part of being personable is to have EMPATHY for whatever they're situation maybe. Defined as "the ability to understand and share the feelings of another."
This my friends is where you can set yourself apart from humans and AI alike.
If they're frustrated with their situation, show EMPATHY.
If they're upset they're $10,000 upside down in their trade, show EMPATHY.
No matter the scenario, showing EMPATHY is key to winning.
Be personable. Have empathy. It really is that simple.
